PEACE TRIBE
Traditionally, one of the most important features of the Somali identity is the tribal identity. The tribe to which you belong is based on the family line of the father, so its not a matter of choice.
Belonging to our Peace-Tribe does not depend on your family line but your own choice: the peace tribe is open to anyone, who loves peace for Somali people and who are willing to be part of peaceful community.
We, as a Peace-Tribe, are on a mission to achieve a peaceful society for Somalia, and we would like to see the number of our family increase exponentially.
The most important task of our Peace Tribe is to tell and share peace stories (Tell Me More), and at the same time to offer a new perspective for Somali children throughout the country, by providing them education.
Our Message
TELL ME MORE (IL-WAD SHEEKADA)
Over the centuries, Somali people have been characterized by their love for stories, which were part of a rich oral tradition. These stories have been passed down, from our forefathers, and are a central part of the Somali experience.
In this time of war and conflict, we try to find comfort in this tradition of storytelling. Our Peace Tribe, has the intention to tell contemporary peace stories, based on this age-old concept, by using social and other mass media. This brengs toghether modernity and tradition, and through sharing these stories, we want promote reconciliation and peace.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN CONCRETE TERMS?
We are going to seek answers to the current political, social and economic conflicts by using and stimulating, this strong tool: we aim to teach solidarity by reverting to ancient methods and applying them in this new context.
